TOP 100 movie review 

       I decided to watch the movie Gladiator. Gladiator was a movie my dad had been recommending to me for some time and I finally got around to watching it. It was awesome. The movie is about a man named Maximus. He is a general for Rome and he is one of the best generals Rome has ever seen. The leader of Rome, has a son. His name is Commodus. He is an evil man that has the right to the throne when his father dies. But, his father believes that the true leader of Rome should be Maximus. Once Commodus learns this, he kills his father and is the new leader of Rome. He orders men to kill Maximus, but we know this is going to be easy. Maximus escapes and finds himself as a slave, eventually to be used as a gladiator. A gladiator is someone who fights in the arenas to death. As you could assume, Maximus takes care of business easily and eventually finds himself fighting in the great Colosseum. Maximus continues his dominance and begins to get the loyalty of insiders throughout the Rome kingdom. Who does he end up fighting? None other than the leader of Rome himself. Their battle is awesome and the result is even better.

        My favorite parts of the movie are the fighting scenes. What’s incredible to me is the makeup. There is a lot of blood and gory scenes. Yet, they make it look so real. I’m interested to learn how they can make it look so real. Another part of the movie that amazed me was the animations. There had to have been some parts that were partly computer animated; especially considering the film takes place hundreds of years ago. They are able to make the Colosseum look so real. I know, the Colosseum is real. But they have above shots that make it look like this scene actually took place is real life. Transitions are also a big part of the film. They do a lot of the fade from dark to light or from light to dark. It works really well in the film because there are a lot of serious scenes that need a good transition. Overall the movie was very well made and had a lot of incredible scenes. I’d love to see a remake of this movie because I think the animations could be even better with today’s technology.

        Without a doubt, I’d recommend this movie to all. The plot is simple yet complicated, and I didn’t want to take my eyes off the screen. I love action movies, but there was a lot more than just action going on throughout the film. There’s love, betrayal, violence, and honor. What I’m happy about is the fact that I know I’ll want to watch this movie again and again periodically in my life. I’m actually excited to show this movie to my friends. There’s nothing better than watching a movie with someone who’s never seen it. I can’t wait to do that with Gladiator.
